As we head into Fall, it’s time to think about preparing your A/C unit for the change in seasons. There are a few things you can do at the end of Summer to keep your air conditioning unit in top shape for next year.
1. Change Your Air Filter
Always ensure you are regularly changing out your air filter. An old air filter is clogged with dirt and debris. This makes your unit less effective if it has to try and push air through a clogged filter. As part of your end of summer maintenance, be sure to check on your filter.
2. Clean Around Your Condenser Unit
It’s easy for dirt, debris, weeds, grass, and other growth to build up near your outdoor air conditioning unit in the Summer months. To prepare for Fall, be sure to clear away any growth. You can use a hose to gently wash away dirt and build up too.
3. Inspect Your Evaporator Drain
Your evaporator drain can get clogged by things like mold during the Summer months. Be sure to check that the drain is clear, or you could run into costly problems like flooding.
4. Check Your Air Ducts
The pollen, dirt, and dust of Summer can leave your ductwork looking messy. You do not want that sitting in your ductwork and in the air you breathe. There are local Ohio duct cleaning specialists available like Ultra Clean who use specialist equipment to vacuum your ductwork.
Doing these simple things will help your air conditioning unit as you move from Summer to Fall. If you notice any issues, or need help with maintenance, get in touch! We’d be happy to help you with any air conditioning, heating, cooling, or HVAC needs.
